FRC McKeown Cup:  Our reserves had a convincing win over Clontribret on Wednesday evening past in the preliminary round of the FRC McKeown Cup.  Played in dry conditions the team and with the team consisting of a good balance of youth and experience, we put over some great scores and overall played some nice football.  Final score Faughs 1-14, O’Neills 1-09.
U11 Boys: The lads played two competitive games against Carrickmacross on Saturday morning at St. Mary’s Park.  In great conditions for football, the boys put in a great shift over the course of three periods of football, the middle period being played with the weaker foot, which the lads excelled in.  Carrick had come looking for the win, but the Faughs stood firm.  Both matches ended with two point wins for us, 0-20 to 0-18 and 0-14 to 0-12

U14 Girls: The girls played Easter Monday evening in the 1st of the league matches. Away to O’Neills in Clontibret on a lovely sunny evening which was a major difference to the winter conditions when these two teams last met.
O’Neills started the strongest with a long ball being kicked into a full forward willing and able to take scores. Blayney were awarded a penalty but unfortunately went wide.  The second half saw Blayney restructured and fought back gallantly to bring it to two points at one stage.  O’Neills came again with another goal to finish 6 points up at the final whistle. A lot to be taken from the game and the girls should be proud of their efforts.

Training again Friday night 7-8pm in the pitch.

U9 Boys: Last Saturday, April 13th, Monaghan Coaching & Games organised a GR8 Go Games U9 Football Monster blitz, which took place at the Entekra Centre of Excellence in Cloghan. It was a bitterly cold and windy day in Cloghan but that didn’t deter the brave souls who turned out in force to make Saturday a successful day.  Well done to all the Faughs players and coaches who played some great football in difficult conditions.
