Allianz National Hurling League Division 3A

Tyrone v Monaghan, Sunday, 2.00, Omagh

Monaghan will be aiming for their first win of the 2019 Allianz NHL when they travel to Omagh for a local derby against Tyrone on Sunday.

Monaghan hurling has been boosted recently by Castleblayney’s run to last Sunday’s All-Ireland Club JHC Final, where they fell just short, although that has had a short-term knock-on effect on the county team’s prospects in the league. Monaghan have started their campaign with defeats against Armagh and Roscommon, while Tyrone have four points to their name after beating Lancashire and Louth.

Monaghan welcome Blayney star Fergal Rafter – in place of manager Trevor Hilliard – while his six of his club-mates have been named on the bench: Paddy Collins, Mark and Peter Treanor, Cormac McNally, Colin Merrick and Craig Callan.

Tyrone talisman Damian Casey has started the year in prolific form, with 2-19 in two games, while Dermot Begley, Ryan McKernan, Bryan McGurk and Tiarnan Morgan should also play key roles for the hosts.

Monaghan: Niall Butler; Gareth Brennan, Jamie Guinan, Pearse McKenna; Stephen Lambe, Éamonn Collins, Conor McKenna; Conor Gernon, Kevin Crawley; Cathal Power, Pádraig McGahon, Nathan Farrell; Shane McNally, Taidhg Campbell, Fergal Rafter.

Subs: Patrick Bermingham, Paddy Collins, Mark Treanor, Emmet Walsh, Luke McKenna, Dylan Mullholland, Peter Treanor, Cormac McNally, Colin Merrick, Craig Callan, Paul Murphy.
