U12 County Championships
St.Mellans Handball Club
Juvenile County Championships. Saturday morning past 6 young men took part in the U12 juvenile county championships, Daithi Mc Meel played Robert Uskar but lost 15-0, 15-8, Dermott Mc Kenna played Daire Mc Kenna this went Daire’s way 15-1, 15-2, Patrick Mohan played Josh Cassidy and having lost the first game 15-5 he took the 2nd 15-8 to force a tie break but Josh just got in a rhyme and took the tie breaker 11-0, Myles Mc Meel played Calum Sherry and almost took the first game but lost both games 15-13, 15-8, Luke Mc Kenna played Adam Richardson and this was a ding dong battle going to a tie breaker, Luke won the 1st game 15-10 but lost the 2nd 8-15, so with all to play for it was Adam who came out on top 11-8, Donnacha first played Daniel Alexis and won it 15-2, 15-0, then in the quarter final he played Ryan Mc Geough, this one he won it 15-8, 15-1, then in the semi-final he played Josh Cassidy where he won it 15-2, 15-1, so well done Donnacha, now in the final he faces Adam Richardson from the Harps, good luck in the final, date time & venue TBC, this Saturday the 10th we host the U13 & U14 at 10am in St.Mellans, the U15’s are in Tydavnet on November the 24th also @ 10am, the U16’s in Bawn on the 1st of December at 10am and the U17’s will be in Corduff also on the 1st of December at 10am.
Juvenile Structures. Take note of the days and time for juvenile coaching, Monday evenings 7-8pm for boys ‘07,’08, Tuesday evenings 7-8pm boys ’05,’06, Wednesday evenings 7-8pm, Thursday evenings 7-8pm beginners ’09 and younger and after that @ 8pm girls ’08 and older, as the Mono League will soon be starting along with the GAA league there may still be some movement within some time slots, can all parents please ensure that their child is registered, this will cover for insurance proposes also.
Juvenile Blitz. The juvenile blitz that we were hoping to hold in the coming weeks has been postponed until further notice.
Mono League. The Mono League has commenced Monday evening past the 5th of November, lets hope our bovine teams can make it one to remember, registration will have to be paid when the league commences, 40 Euro fee for the year, not only does this register you in the club for the year it is also your insurance cover for the year, so captains will be applying pressure on all team members to make sure they are all paid up in full.
Coaching Course. Our handball coaching course has been changed to tomorrow evening Friday the 9th of November @ 6pm, this open to all within the club and county, so anyone wishing to learn more can attend.
Table Quiz. We have our annual Table Quiz provisionally booked to take place in St.Mellans Complex on Friday night the 16th on November, usual rules apply, tables of 4 with refreshment served on the night.
Corduff Handball Notes
Juvenile training continues to grow strong with over thirty juveniles training in four groups from 8-16 years old on Wednesday’s at 7-8pm and Friday’s at 7-9pm.Parents will be informed of their child’s group or any changes to times by text message each week.Juvenile membership is €10 and €2 per training session.
Members Singles league
Our singles 40×20 league is into its sixth week with fifty two members in five different groups from beginner to senior levels taking part.Please contact your opponent beforehand to confirm the fixture.Make sure to text Aidan Marron or Ciarán Brennan with the results of each game in order to keep the league tables up to date.Best of luck to all taking part.
Corduff Handball Club will hold the
U17 Monaghan County Championship on Saturday 1st of December at 10am.
County Handball Presentation night
The County Handball presentation night will be held by Corduff Handball Club this year. The event will take place in the Mountain Dew beside the alley, Friday the 23rd of November at 8:30pm.
U12 County Championship
Well done to Shane Courtney taking part in the Monaghan County Championship putting in a great performance at Monaghan Harps Handball Club with two very tight games.
All ireland SMBD 60×30 winners, Michael Clerkin and John mc Geough
Another all ireland title for Bawn in the SMBD 60×30 last week in roscommon where Michael Clerkin and John mc Geough dft the team from Mayo in a trilling 3 game match, the monaghan lads came from behind in the first game only to be narrowly dft 21-18, they found themselves 9-16 behind in the second game but dug deep and played out of the skins to win 21-20, tie break was another epic battle but this time it was the Bawn lads who went out in front and the never gave up there lead winning 21-13, a fantastic and well deserved win.
Killian Mc Elroy memorial tournament takes place this weekend, 9th 10th and 11th Nov in Bawn and we hope as many people as possible will come along to watch the action.
