Emyvale 5-16 Monaghan Harps 1-11

A more dominant, rampant Emyvale took the spoils in this U15 Division 1 League Shield Final played in Scotstown on Thursday evening last.
The Oliver Plunketts men got the first score of the match after two minutes through Caolan McKenna, before the Harps split the posts, thanks to a Jamie Coyle free.
A brace of Shay Cooney frees then put the Harps into a two point lead, before Emyvale landed their first goal after 9 minutes, courtesy of Michael Hamill. He then pointed a free to leave Emyvale two points in front after 12 minutes.
Aidan McKenna was on hand with two white flags to push the lead out further, before Kevin Moran stopped the rot for the Harps with a point, to leave the score 1-4 to 0-4 after 19 minutes of the first half.
Emyvale stretched the lead out to five points again before Jake Hughes struck for their second goal on 26 minutes, followed by another green flag from Jake Hughes three minutes later, to leave his side 3-6 to 0-4 ahead at half time.
The second half started in similar vein with both teams trading points, until Luke Aughey sent home a fourth goal for Emyvale, who were already on their way to the shield title.
Ben Myers and Daragh Croarkin pulled two points back for the Harps, before Dylan Sherry and Luke Cawley found the range to leave Emyvale 13 points ahead with 12 minutes remaining.
The gap remained at 13 with scores traded until Jake Hughes scored his third goal of the evening and Emyvale’s fifth, to leave them 16 points up with 10 minutes remaining.
A brace from Michael Hamill and one from Aidan McKenna left Emyvale 19 points up with five minutes remaining.
A late goal from a penalty by Shay Cooney was mere consolation for the Harps, who were out on their feet at the full time whistle whilst Emyvale jumped for joy.
