Castleblayney Hurling Club Notes 20th Sept 2018

U-7/U9’s have finished their season and will start next season on Feb 26t in Castleblayney College gym. Thanks to all the boys and girls for their enthusiasm and effort this year.

U-8½ & U10½ Last Saturday 22 young hurlers travelled to Omagh to represent Castleblayney Hurling Club at the Omagh St Enda’s Ulster hurling blitz for U-8 ½ & 10 ½ hurlers which included 24 clubs from Ulster.

The U-8 ½’s played four matches in their section against clubs from Tyrone and Donegal, winning all but one match and qualified to play Ederney from Fermanagh in the Shield semi-Final. This set them up for the final in Healy Park against Mac Cumhaill’s of Donegal. In what was a very competitive and close match, with Mac Cumhaill’s winning at half time, the young Blayney hurlers dug deep to come back to win out in the end.

The U-10 ½’s played four matches in their section against teams from Antrim, Armagh, Tyrone & Derry winning all but one match to qualify for a spot in the Shield semi–final against Omagh St Enda’s . This was a close match up until the last few minutes when

Blayney eventually pulled away to qualify for the final. In the final the young Blayney hurlers faced another Tyrone team from Dungannon. The boys faced in to the challenge with great determination and led from the start to the finish, displaying some great hurling

skills and receiving great praise from the large crowd in attendance on their skills and abilities.

U-7’s, U-9’s and U-11’s now take a break for the winter.

Senior Team is back in action in Monaghan this weekend as they take on Inniskeen in the Monaghan Senior Hurling League final. The game throws in at 1.30pm in Aughnamullen. Please come out and support the lads.
