Sillverhill Farm Minor Hurling Championship Final

Castleblayney  1-11 Carrickmacross 1-5

Castleblayney Hurlers gained revenge for their league final loss when they overcame Carrick hurlers in the final of the Silverhill Farm Minor Hurling Championship. It was definitely a case of two halves as Carrick were the strongest team in the first half  with Blayney keeping in it  thanks to the excellent hurling of David Irwin who was their only scorer  in the first half  while  Carrick got their points from the Slevin’s and Ciarán Guinan grabbed Carrick’s only goal. James Slevin closed the half’s scoring in the 20th minute to leave Carrick ahead by a goal 1-4 to 4  by the half time whistle.

The tempo of the game upped slightly  in the second half with Blayney taking control of the game and David Irwin scoring his fifth point and then eventually in the 8th minute Mikey Carville became Blayney’s 2nd scorer. This put Blayney  ahead for the first time.  Sub David Moorehead put four in it soon afterwards with Blayney’s  only goal. Blayney increased their margin even further with points  before Ciaran Guinan grabbed Carrick’s only score of the half but even with that point Blayney had the final say with a Mikey Carville free to leave  the full time score Castleblayney 1-11 Carrick 1-5
