Monaghan progress to All-Ireland SFC semi-finals

All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Quarter-Final Group Stage Phase 3

Galway 0-8 Monaghan 0-16                                     4/8/18

Monaghan are through to the All-Ireland SFC semi-finals for the first time since 1988 after this impressive win over Galway at Pearse Stadium on Saturday.

Six Monaghan players were on the scoresheet in the first half as they claimed a 0-7 to 0-5 interval lead and they maintained their lead through to the end to finish top of Group 1. Conor McManus, Rory Beggan and Dermot Malone pushed Monaghan further clear and with McAnespie capping the result via a superb added-time score, Malachy O’Rourke’s side secured a famous win.
