Killeevan win Shield after Extra Time

Manor Farm U15 Division 5 Shield Final

Killeevan 3-17 (26) Scotstown 4-9 (21)

Killeevan captured the U15 Division 5 Shield  in Clones on Thursday last the 16th of August after extra time in a game that started slowly but had an exciting finish. Scotstown started strongly with a goal from Charlie Mohan. However at the end of the first quarter scores were at a premium with  Killeevan a goal behind and only two points on  the board. In fact things got even better for Scotstown with a goal from full forward Daniel Roddy and were nine points ahead entering into the last few minute of the half. Killeevan then upped it a gear with the introduction of regular goalkeeper Tomas Mac Uaid and  with their main score threat John Mc Donnell getting a goal  Scotstown went into the break with a five point lead. Half time score was Scotstown 2-7  Killeevan 1-5.

Killeevan startly the 2nd half brightly  with three unanswered points to leave only 2 in it.  Points were then exchanged before a Killeevan point from  Ethan Graham  left only a point in it at the end of the third quarter. The same player then scored a goal for Killleevan to go ahead. Scotstown’s Ryan Larmer  then kicked a second goal to go ahead. They remained so until 4 minutes from the end when Ethan Graham  scored the equaliser to put the game to two seven minutes of extra time. Score  at the end of normal tine was Killeevan 2-12 Scotstown 3-9

In the first period of extra time Scotstown introduced a few subs  but it was Killeevan who became the stronger and they went into the final 10 minutes scoring the first two points. John Mc Donnell then scored his 2nd goal of the game but Scotstown weren’t for backing down and Glen Treanor  kicked a goal to put only two in it. However Killeevan finished strongly to kick three points to leave the score at the end 3-17 to 4-9 in favour of the west Monaghan side
