CLASSY TYHOLLAND SHOOT THE LIGHTS OUT IN AGHABOG

Gerry’s Prepared Veg U13 Division 4 Cup Final
Tyholland 4-14 Rockcorry 2-6

21/8/18

On a breezy Tuesday evening in Aghabog, Tyholland’s U13 team blew Rockcorry out of the water in the U13 Division 4 Cup Final with a display of power, pace and skill worthy of champions.
The boys in red set their stall out from the word go, with two goals in the first 60 seconds from Colin Sheridan and Aaron Clarke. Callum Sheridan followed this up with a point, before Rockcorry finally got on the board after 3 minutes.
Oisin Connolly kicked over a point from close range for the boys in green, before Jamie Reilly connected on to a long kick-pass and palmed the ball to the net for Rockcorry’s opening goal, to leave 3 points between the teams after 4 minutes, 2-1 to 1-1 to Tyholland.
Diarmuid Hughes then tapped over a free for Tyholland, before Caolan Mullen helped himself to a goal and a point to leave Tyholland 9 points ahead after as many minutes. Marty Donnelly kicked over a free for Rockcorry but then Tyholland scored their fourth goal, courtesy of the aforementioned Diarmuid Hughes. Rockcorry rallied with a brace of points from James Elliot and a Marty Donnelly free but then Tyholland responded their own brace, thanks to Caolan Mullen and Diarmuid Hughes again. Mullen kicked another point, and two more white flags from Colin and Callum Sheridan soon had Tyholland 12 points ahead, approaching half time. Oisin Connolly worked another point for Rockcorry to leave the scores 4-8 to 1-6 in favour of Rockcorry.

In the second half, it was all Tyholland. Two points from Callum Sheridan and Aaron Treanor, followed by a Colin Sheridan free, pushed Tyholland’s lead out to 14 points. Callum Sheridan split the posts twice more, and Rylan McCooey found the range with a point from play. Tyholland were now 17 points ahead with full time approaching. Rockcorry finally got their first and only score in the second half, a goal from Danny Clerkin. A long-range free that wasn’t dealt with by the Tyholland defence was slammed home by Clerkin on the rebound. It was too little, too late though, and Tyholland were deserving winners by 14 points.
