Seniors: Last Friday‘s Shoe City Senior Football League game brought another narrow defeat away to Clontibret. Liam Hahessy, Nicholas Scott and Shane McMahon were on target in a first half that ended with our lads trailing by 1-9 to 0-6. Scores from Éimhín Morahan, Dylan McKenna, Nicholas and Gary White kept us in touch after the restart, before 1-1 from Shane Smyth and a penalty by Éimhín brought us back on level terms. Clontibret responded, however, to kick the last two points and claim the win on a scoreline of 1-19 to 2-14. Our next SFL game is at home to Scotstown on Friday week (July 20).

Team and scorers: Emmett McArdle; Niall Ward, Nicholas Scott (Capt., 0-3), Aidan Burns; Thomas Croarkin, John Mulligan, David Lowry; Stephen Driver, Dylan McKenna (0-1); Gary White (0-2), Éimhín Morahan (1-2, 1-0 pen, 0-1f), Francis Lynch; Shane McMahon (0-1), Shane Smyth (1-1), Liam Hahessy (0-4, 3f).

Subs: Jamie Shields for McMahon (H-T), James McKenna for Lynch (49 mins), Michael Galligan for Hahessy (60).

Reserves: We won away to Éire Óg in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division 2B on Wednesday. Our last group game in Division 1B away to Aughnamullen will now take place this Saturday at 5pm, with the O’Duffy Cup Final against Scotstown now scheduled for Wednesday, July 25 in Truagh.

Minors/U-17: Our minors returned to action after a long gap with a Shield semi-final at home to Latton last Tuesday (July 3). There was little to separate the sides in a low-scoring first half, but Latton gained the upper hand in the second half to book their place in the Shield Final on a scoreline of 3-14 to 2-9.

Team: Daragh Croarkin; Andrew Lyden, Killian Conlon, David Leane; Conor Devlin, Brendan Óg Ó Dufaigh, Dean Doherty; Lochlainn Power, Lorcan O’Rourke; Luke Coyle, Oisín Fagan, Terence McDonald; Corey McArdle, Seán Conway, Anann Connor.

The Minor (U-18) Championship opener away to Inniskeen is scheduled for next Tuesday, July 17. The start of the U-17 Football League has been delayed due to Monaghan minors’ continued involvement in the inter-county championship.

U-15: The Manor Farm U-15 Football Championship Division One began last Thursday, when we won away to Cremartin. Goals by Jamie Coyle (two) and Tiarnán O’Rourke got us off to a good start, but we allowed Cremartin back into the game and despite points from Tiarnán, Shay Cooney and Kevin Moran, our lead was down to 3-4 to 2-4 by half-time. Our lads were more accurate in the second half, with scores from Jake Power, Liam Conway, Daragh Croarkin, Shea Swift, Shay, Tiarnán, Kevin and Jamie secured a 4-19 to 4-5 win.

Team and scorers: Karol Parszywka; Jordan Crampton, James Curley; Gary Devlin, Liam Conway (Capt., 0-2), Mark McManus; Tiarnán O’Rourke (1-2), Kevin Moran (0-2); Jamie Coyle (2-3), Shay Cooney (0-5, 2f), Jake Power (1-3); Ben Myers, Daragh Croarkin (0-1).

Subs used: Jake McConnon, Josh Lavery, Josh Kelly, Shea Swift (0-1), Michael McMorrow, Dylan McClave.

U-13: Our U-13 Division One team had a big win at home to Truagh in the Gerry’s Prepared Veg. league on Tuesday (July 3). A string of scores from Cian Bradley, Fionán Ó Gallchóir, Eoin O’Hanlon, Jack Lynch, Shay Kelly, Seán Callan, Ethan Ballantine, Shane Moran and Senan Cudden saw our lads take complete control in an impressive first-half performance. The scores didn’t quite flow as freely in the second half, but further efforts from Cian, Fionán and Jack sealed a convincing win.

Team and scorers: Oisín Reilly; Dáire Conlon, Ethan McCaffrey; Mark Clerkin, Shane Moran (1-0), Senan Cudden (0-1); Eoin O’Hanlon (0-3, 1f, 1 ’45), Jack Lynch (1-3); Shay Kelly (1-0), Seán Callan (0-1), Cian Bradley (0-8); Ethan Ballantine (0-1), Fionán Ó Gallchóir (2-4).

Sub used: Morgan Coyle Kyle Cooney, Dara Mullen, Max Mallen.

The next Division One game is away to Scotstown on Saturday at 12.30.

U-11: Our U-11 teams continued the Liam Stirrat Development League with a couple of entertaining games at home to Clontibret last Saturday. Both teams are due to play away to Corduff in the next round on Saturday week (July 21).
