Seniors: A much-changed team lost out away to Latton in the Shoe City Senior Football League last Friday. Éimhín Morahan, Dylan McKenna, David Lowry and Shane McMahon were on target in a first half that ended with our lads trailing by 0-9 to 0-6. Points by Éimhín, Dylan, Nicholas Scott and Liam Hahessy kept us in touch in the second half, but after we saw a goal chance go untaken at one end, Latton hit the net at the other end to secure a 1-13 to 0-11 win. We have another away game in the SFL against Clontibret tomorrow night (Friday) at 8pm. All support welcome.

Team and scorers: Emmett McArdle; Mustafa Gamal, Nicholas Scott (Capt., 0-1), Niall Ward; Aidan Burns, John Mulligan, David Lowry (0-1); Stephen Driver, Dylan McKenna (0-3); Gary White, Éimhín Morahan (0-4, 2f), Shane McMahon (0-1); Michael Galligan, Shane Smyth, Francis Lynch.

Subs: Conor Galligan for White (H-T), Liam Hahessy (0-1f) for M Galligan (inj., 40 mins).

Reserves: We stayed in contention in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division 2B with a narrow win at home to Aghabog last Wednesday. Goals from Dylan McKenna (two) and Nathan O’Donoghue and points by John Mulligan, Nathan and David Lowry had us ahead throughout the first half, although Aghabog rallied to trail by just 3-5 to 0-11 at the interval. Aghabog converted a penalty to set up a tight finish, but points from the likes of Dylan, Nathan and Seán Peyton helped us over the line on a 3-13 to 1-17 scoreline.

Team: Dylan McAree; Kevin Lyden, John Mulligan, Turlough Clerkin; Conor Forde (Capt.), Seán Peyton, Niall McManus; Dylan McKenna, Darragh Hannon; Jason McHugh, David Lowry, Conor Duffy; Nathan O’Donoghue, Colm Shalvey.

Subs used: Niall Ward, Jamie Shields, Ben Kearns-Flynn, Aidan Burns.

We are due to play away to Éire Óg in Division 2B next Wednesday (July 11) at 8pm, with the O’Duffy Cup Final against Scotstown set for Truagh on Friday week (July 13).

Minors/U-17: Our minors were set to return to action after a long gap with a Shield semi-final at home to Latton on Tuesday (July 3), while the championship opener against Inniskeen has been rescheduled for July 17. The U-17 Football League is due to get underway this Saturday, July 7, away to Carrickmacross. This game may also be rescheduled, so please check online to confirm fixtures.

U-15: The Manor Farm U-15 Football Championship Division One begins this evening (Thursday) when we travel to Cremartin for a 7.30pm throw-in. The Division Four/Five Championship is due to start with a home game against Carrickmacross on Tuesday (July 10).

U-13: Our U-13 Division One team lost out at home to Carrickmacross in the Gerry’s Prepared Veg. league last Tuesday. Scores by Ethan Ballantine, Eoin O’Hanlon, Cian Bradley and Jack Lynch saw our lads take a narrow lead in at half-time, but Carrick gained the upper hand in the second half. The league continued at home to Truagh on Tuesday (July 3).

Team and scorers: Oisín Reilly; Dáire Conlon, Jack Lynch (0-1); Mark Clerkin, Shane Moran, Ethan McCaffrey; Ethan Ballantine (1-0), Eoin O’Hanlon (1-0); Cian Bradley (0-2), Max Mallen, Morgan Coyle; Fionán Ó Gallchóir (0-1), Dara Mullen.

Sub used: Kyle Cooney.

Well done to our Division Five team on their hard-earned 6-10 to 5-10 championship semi-final win away to Scotstown last Wednesday. Last weekend’s league game v Carrickmacross was postponed. Both of our teams are now looking forward to championship finals, which are yet to be scheduled.

U-11: Our U-11 teams continue the Liam Stirrat Development League with games at home to Clontibret this Saturday at 12 noon.

County: Good luck to Neil McAdam and the Monaghan senior footballers in their All-Ireland SFC Round 4 Qualifier against Laois in Navan this Sunday. Well done to team captain Brendan Óg Ó Dufaigh, Lochlainn Power and the county minors on their win in last Sunday’s Ulster MFC semi-final against Cavan.

Hurling:

Congratulations: A huge congratulations to senior player Maurice McKenna and his newlywed wife Una on their recent marriage.

U-13: Our next U-13 game is a league fixture away to Clontibret on Friday, July 13 at 7.30pm.

U-15: Our next league fixture is away to Lisbellaw on Monday, July 9. Next training session is this Sunday at 11am.

Senior: The St. Macartan’s amalgamation team opened their championship campaign last Thursday with an away trip to Carrick. Despite dominating for long periods, the concession of two first half goals along with some missed opportunities left the team trailing by a goal at half-time. A competitive second half took on a score for score pattern for the most part before a St. Macartan’s scoring flurry brought things level. However, Carrick were to have the last say with a late point seeing them finish out as 2-14 to 1-16 winners. Next up Inniskeen travel to Rooskey for round two this Thursday with an 8pm throw-in.

Juvenile Coaching: Coaching for juveniles continues every Sunday in Rooskey between 12 noon and 1.30pm.
