Seniors: We are away to Latton in the Shoe City Senior Football League tonight (Friday) for an 8pm throw-in. All support welcome.

Reserves: We had two hard-earned wins in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football Leagues last week. We started with a 2-10 to 2-7 win away to Clones in Division 2B last Wednesday. We trailed by 1-3 to 0-4 at half-time despite scores from John Mulligan, Jason McHugh and Nathan O’Donoghue, but a brace of goals from Niall Brannigan put us in the driving seat and with Conor Duffy and Conor McCrystal also among the scorers, we held on. We wish Dónal McCarthy a speedy recovery from the injury he suffered in the closing minutes.

Team and scorers: Dylan McAree; Niall Ward, Aidan Burns, David Lowry; Conor Forde (Capt.), John Mulligan (0-1), Turlough Clerkin; Dylan McKenna, Dónal McCarthy; Colm Shalvey (0-1), Jason McHugh (0-4, 2f), Conor Duffy (0-1); Nathan O’Donoghue (0-2f), Niall Brannigan (2-0), Seán Conway.

Subs used: Conor McCrystal (0-1), Corey McArdle, Conor O’Neill.

We then hosted Killanny in Division 1B on Sunday, when a great first half saw goals from Éimhín Morahan and Shane McMahon and points by Éimhín, Nathan O’Donoghue, Shane Coyle and Francis Lynch leave us in a commanding position. A second goal from Shane McMahon and points by Shane Coyle and Conor Forde kept us well clear for much of the second half and although Killanny rallied late on, we closed out a 3-14 to 3-10 win that keeps it tight between the top three teams going into the final round.

Team and scorers: Emmett McArdle; Niall Ward, Aidan Burns, Mustafa Gamal; David Lowry, John Mulligan, Niall Treanor; Dylan McKenna, Éimhín Morahan (Capt., 1-4, 1-0 pen, 0-1f); Conor Forde (0-1), Shane McMahon (2-1), Conor Duffy; Nathan O’Donoghue (0-2), Shane Coyle (0-4), Francis Lynch (0-1).

Subs used: Dylan McAree, Niall McManus, Jason McHugh, Colm Shalvey (0-1), Turlough Clerkin.

We hosted Aghabog in Division 2B on Wednesday.

Minors/U-17: Our minors return to action after a long gap with a Shield semi-final at home to Latton on Tuesday (July 3). The U-17 Football League is due to get underway on Saturday week, July 7. Our U-17s will begin their campaign with an away game against Carrickmacross.

U-13: Amid a busy schedule for our U-13 teams, our Division One side hosted Carrickmacross in the league on Tuesday. The lads are also preparing for the championship final against the same opposition, but before that, they are due to host Truagh on Monday evening. The Division Five team had a championship semi-final away to Scotstown on Wednesday, while their league game in Carrickmacross is due to be played this Sunday at 2.30pm. Check online to confirm fixtures and results.

U-15: The U-15 Football League Division One resumed last Thursday, when a depleted Harps team lost out at home to Donaghmoyne. Cremartin have conceded the Division One League game due to be played this week.

Team: Shea Swift; Jordan Crampton, Mark McManus, Gary Devlin; Jake McConnon, Liam Conway (Capt.), Josh Lavery; Tiarnán O’Rourke, Kevin Moran; Jamie Coyle, Jake Power, Facthna Mac Conghail; Josh Kelly, Shay Cooney, Gregory O’Connell.

Subs used: Michael McMorrow, Conor Treanor, Eoin McCleary.

U-11: Our U-11 teams continued the new Liam Stirrat Development League with games away to Carrickmacross last Friday. Their next games are at home to Clontibret on Saturday week, July 7.

County: Good luck to Neil McAdam and the Monaghan senior footballers in their All-Ireland SFC Round 3 Qualifier against Leitrim in Carrick-on-Shannon this Saturday and to Brendan Óg Ó Dufaigh, Lochlainn Power and the county minor footballers in Sunday’s Ulster MFC semi-final against Cavan in Armagh on Sunday.

Gavan Duffy Park: Thanks to everyone who helped us host several games in a busy few days last week, with two U-13 FC Finals and Ulster Community Games Gaelic Football finals taking place at Gavan Duffy Park between Friday and Monday. Next on the agenda is an All-Ireland Ladies MFC ‘B’ semi-final between Antrim and Roscommon this Saturday at 2pm. All help appreciated.

Dates to remember: Our Family Fun Day and Mick Farrell Tournament are pencilled in for August 18 and 25, respectively. The Kellogg’s Cúl Camp returns to Gavan Duffy Park from July 9-13, with our own Summer Camp scheduled for August 20-24.

Clubhouse: The Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Contact Jimmy Croarkin on 087 1249635 or Pádraig Callan on 087 2543511 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.

Hurling:

U-13: Best of luck to the members of our U-13 panel who also play with the big ball, as they travel to represent Tyholland in this weekend’s Féile Peil na nÓg.

U-15: Our U-15s put in a sterling performance away to Blayney on Monday evening in the league but were unable to come away with a win. A strong start by Blayney saw them post four scores without reply and although the Harps settled into the game at this stage, with great performances in particular from Liam Conway, Mark McManus and Gary Devlin, the gap proved too large to close. Next up is an away fixture against Lisbellaw on July 9. The schedule for the next training sessions for the group are as follows: this Sunday (July 1) at 12pm, Wednesday (July 4) at 10am and Sunday (July 8) at 11am.

Juvenile Coaching: Coaching for juveniles continues every Sunday in Rooskey between 12 noon and 1.30pm.
