Success for Eoghan and Seán

Eoghan McGinnity receiving his All Ireland medal from Austin McKenna GAA Handball

An outstanding weekend in the history of Harps Handball culminated in an Ulster title for Seán Callan and an All-ireland Colleges title for Eoghan Mc Ginnity.
Sean’s victory by 15-2, 15- 1, over Tyrone’s Eoin Donaghy brought a third Ulster title to the Harps.
This final was refixed for the Monaghan venue and Seán took full advantage of the fast court. He served very well but his choice of shots was exemplary. He mixed good kill shots with impressive ceiling shots in front of a great crowd of supporters.
Eoghan brought home the All-Ireland Colleges title by winning the semifinal and final on Saturday last in Kingscourt. If anything his semifinal win over Cork’s Cian O’Driscoll was the highlight of a superb performance. His Munster opponent is one of the top ranking players in the country. Eoghan beat him 15-7, 15-9 in an awesome display of serving and retrieval.
He then proceeded to the final against Eimhín Ó Diollúin from Galway. What looked like a tough match in prospect turned into a one-sided affair such was Eoghan’s speed around the court. He won by 15-5, 15-3.
Congratulations to our new champions. Hard luck to Szymon, Tiarnán, Konrad and Justas who found the going very tough.
