Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 7, 12, 16 and 25. Jackpot of €3,300 not won. Residual prizes: €100 John McMahon c/o Barry Sullivan; €40 Patricia McCann c/o Paddy Donnelly; €40 Pádraig Óg Callan c/o Séamus Treanor; €40 Barry Sullivan c/o himself. Jackpot for Sunday, December 17 is €3,400 and Ann and Adrian Trappe are on duty. Lotto draw takes place in our clubhouse every Sunday night, with this week’s being the last of 2017. All welcome. Thanks to everyone for their support for our Lotto, which plays a critical role in our club’s funding. We ask all club members to continue to promote our Lotto as much as possible.

 

Lotto AGM: The Lotto committee’s AGM takes place this Sunday night in our clubhouse at 9pm, followed by our last draw of 2017. All Lotto sellers, supporters and rota workers are welcome.

 

Charity match: We are looking forward to our annual charity match on New Year’s Day. All support appreciated for this fixture on the calendar.

 

Church-gate collection: Our church-gate collection takes place this weekend. Please let Rose Donnelly or Dermot Coyle know if you are available to help out.

 

Committee: The senior club would like to thank Val and Úna Forde for taking up the positions of Secretary and Assistant Secretary, respectively. Best wishes to them and the other committee members for 2018.

 

Awards: Congratulations to Kevin Treanor on being inducted into the Monaghan GAA Hall of Fame. A former star player with Truagh and Monaghan, Kevin is now our registrar and a lotto promoter and his family have been valued members of the Harps club for several years. Well done also to Cathal Power on being selected as one of the best 15 hurlers in the county SHC.

 

Dates to remember: Our annual charity match will take place as usual at Gavan Duffy Park on New Year’s Day, while our juvenile presentation night is provisionally set for Friday, January 26. Monaghan Arch Club will return to Gavan Duffy Park for their annual visit in February.

 

Balloon Race: The winning balloon from the Great Harps Balloon Race 2017 was found in Sainte-Pôle, France. See next week’s notes for the winner.

 

Coaching: There are several upcoming coaching courses/workshops in Cloghan.

 

Gavan Duffy Park: The refurbished Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Contact Jimmy Croarkin on 087 1249635 or Pádraig Callan on 087 2543511 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience. Please note that our pitches are now closed until early 2018.

 

Hurling: Congratulations to Cathal Power on being selected as one of the best 15 performers in the county in this year’s club championship.
