Summer Camp: Our 2017 Monaghan Harps Summer Camp was a great success last week, with 130 boys and girls enjoying the football, hurling, handball and music at Gavan Duffy Park.

Seniors: We fell to a two-point defeat in the Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship preliminary round against Magheracloone in Castleblayney last Sunday. A well-taken goal by Fearghal McMahon and points from Neil McAdam (two), Stephen Driver, Shane McMahon, Dónal Hahessy and Aodhán Óg McAnespie had us 1-6 to 0-5 up at the end of a solid first-half performance. We could only add a further four points to our total, however, (from Conor Galligan, Thomas Croarkin, Dónal and Dean Fanning), while Magheracloone took advantage of having a numerical advantage for the last 20 minutes to end up on top by 0-15 to 1-10. We received a bye through Round 1B and we drew Castleblayney in Round 2B, with that game fixed for Saturday week (September 2) in Inniskeen at 7.30.

U-16: Our U-16s are away to Castleblayney this evening (Thursday) in the last round of the Cup section of the Division One league. Throw-in is at 7.30.

U-14: Our U-14 Division One team concluded the group stage of the league with a good win at home to Cremartin on Saturday, August 12. An improved all-round performance, even without several players, saw us lead this game throughout. Goals by Jake McConnon and Shay Cooney (two) and points from Shay, Liam Conway and Jamie Coyle had us 3-4 to 0-4 up at half-time. Ben Myers and Jamie found the net in the second half, while Kevin Moran, James Curley and Daragh Croarkin added their names to the scoresheet to earn us a 5-10 to 3-6 win over the championship finalists. Oisín Reilly made some fine saves in the first half, while Karol Parszywka produced some stunning stops after he moved between the posts. Our U-14s now await the Division One Shield Final and the Division Five Cup semi-final: fixtures to be confirmed.

Team and scorers: Oisín Reilly; Jordan Crampton, James Curley (0-1); Michael McMorrow, Kevin Moran (0-1f), Shea Swift; Tiarnán O’Rourke, Liam Conway (Capt., 0-2); Daragh Croarkin (0-2), Shay Cooney (2-2), Jake McConnon (1-1); Jamie Coyle (1-1), Karol Parszywka.
