Monaghan Jerseys going to South Africa

Father Matthias African Fund

For almost  eight  years Kate and Gerry Reilly have been fundraising to support Father Matthias Nsamba , a Catholic priest who works at the Sacred Heart Mission in Qoqodala , Queenstown, South Africa .The parish is particularly poor , even by South African Standards and every penny /cent raised is used to feed and educate the poor and orphans of the parish The actual reality of the poverty being endured by the people there has further  increased Kate and Gerry’s determination  to continue and expand  their  fund raising efforts on their behalf.

Their main cash flow comes from recycling empty beer and mineral cans, cake sales etc.  They are asking the people of Monaghan to keep their empty  cans for them .They will collect them at your convenience . Keep your  empty  Beer/mineral  cans for them !!

They help feed and educate the poor at the Sacred Heart Mission Qoqodala  Queenstown  South Africa

Gerry and Kate are going to  visit Father Matthias next week, leaving on March 9     Father Matthias( showing his Monaghan  colours!!!)  has asked them to introduce Gaelic Football to his parish as a means of giving the children a healthy activity and a positive focus.Gerry and Kate intend to do just that and a pitch and goalposts will be set up during their visit. Monaghan County Board G.A.A. have generously donated a set of jerseys to the project .Picture shows County captain Colin Walshe presenting the jerseys to Kate and Gerry recently. The neighbouring parish has also asked to start up a team and Eire ÓG has donated jerseys to them to ensure a healthy  inter parish G.A.A. rivalry  .Any assistance or support for this very worthy project would be greatly appreciated
