Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 6, 17, 22 and 23. Jackpot of €1,500 not won. Thanks to everyone for their support for our Lotto, which plays a critical role in our club’s funding. We ask all club members to continue to promote our Lotto as much as possible.

 

Membership: Registration fees of €20 for 2017 can now be paid to club registrar Kevin Treanor or in the clubhouse. All players and members must be paid up by the end of March and are asked to register as soon as possible. Members can now avail of the GAA’s new ‘GRMA’ scheme, with access to exclusive discounts and special offers. See gaa.ie for more details.

 

Reserves: We have been drawn in the preliminary round of both 2017 Reserve Football Championships: at home to Aughnamullen in the O’Duffy Cup and Seán McDermotts in the Crawley Cup.

 

Dates to remember: The Senior Football League is scheduled to start on Saturday, April 8, with the Reserve Leagues to begin on March 5 and the Minor Football League getting underway on Tuesday, March 28. Our annual Cake Sale is set for Saturday, April 29, while our Saturday-morning coaching for juveniles will also kick off in April and our juveniles will again be taking part in the St. Patrick’s Day parade next month. We will be participating and hosting at Féile Peil na nÓg 2017 (June 23-25), a week after our juvenile street collection. Darkness into Light 2017 will take place in the early hours of Saturday, May 6. Keep an eye on club notes for more details on these events.

 

Juveniles: Training has commenced for all of our juvenile football teams. We will be entering an Under-16 team and two teams at Under-14 and Under-12 levels. Fixtures are set to get underway next month, with the following start dates: Saturday, March 11 for U-14s; Saturday, March 18 for U-12s (Spring League); and Thursday, March 30 for U-16s.

 

Féile: Thanks to all families who have agreed to host U-14 players from a visiting club in June. We will hold a meeting with more information for all involved at a later date.

 

Coaching: There are several upcoming coaching courses/workshops in Cloghan. Check the Monaghan GAA website and contact Pádraig Callan if you wish to attend any. We hosted a meeting for all club coaches on Wednesday. Keep an eye out for details about a possible upcoming Child Protection course.

 

Congratulations: And best wishes to senior footballer Conor Devlin and Bernie Moloney, who got married last weekend!

 

Handball: Congratulations to all the young Harps handballers and their coaches who have enjoyed great success in provincial and national competitions in recent weeks.

 

Club Draw: Thanks to the club members who supported the GAA National Club Draw. Please make sure all tickets are returned to Jimmy Croarkin.

County: Well done to the Monaghan Under-21s, who won the Shamrock Cup last Sunday. Good luck to all county teams in action this weekend, including Neil McAdam and the senior footballers as they travel to Killarney to face Kerry.

Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.

 

Ladies notes: Hard luck to the senior team who were defeated by Killanny in the opening round of the spring league.

Training continues this week for our seniors, U-16s and minors.
