Blackhill Club Notes

February 17th, 2017

A Memorable Night: Our Centenary Dinner Dance proved a night to remember in the Glencarn last Saturday night. A huge crowd assembled to acknowledge the club’s centenary as well as celebrate the club’s championship victory last year. The Breakfast Roll man, Seán McCaffrey, kept proceedings going seamlessly on the night. A special word of gratitude must go to Ard Stiúrthóir, Páraic Duffy, who spoke on the night before awarding winner’s medals to the Junior Football Champions and the Reserve League winners. Thanks are also extended to County Chairman Michael Mc Mahon who also spoke before presenting the Young Player of the Year award to Tommy Geehan. Congratulations are awarded to the Blackhill committee for their detailed organisation of the event; led by Club person of the year Bernie Courtney and her wing woman Marie Murphy. A special word of appreciation goes to Paul West for putting together a brilliant slideshow and Lucy Mc Ardle for entertaining the crowd with her superbly composed recitation. The final words of sincere thanks are extended to everyone who showed up on the night to make it such a special occasion. Without everyone’s support, the club would not be in the position it is today. Ní neart go cur le cheile – Together Stronger.

Juveniles: Our season kicked started in spectacular fashion last Saturday morning with many new faces joining last year’s team who have notably grown in height. Training continues each Sat morning at 10.45am in the hall at Rath na nÓg (behind Doc on Call). All new comers welcome from aged 4 up. Any queries, contact Matthew 0870666914.

Sympathy:  The club extends its sympathy to former footballer Michael Murphy on the death of his wife Ava Murphy neé Clifford, The Cresent. May she rest in peace.
