Juvenile AGM: The Juvenile Club Annual General Meeting took place in the clubhouse last Thursday night. Aideen Swift and Damien Morgan presented the Secretary’s Report and Chairman’s Address, both giving an overview of another busy year for our juveniles and thanking everyone involved. There were reports from Mel McMorrow on our Under-12s, Colm Shalvey on our Under-14 teams, Mel on the Under-16 campaign, Adrian Gunn on our U-10s and Finbarr Conlon on the Saturday-morning coaching and the juveniles’ trip to Na Fianna and Croke Park. Club Vice-Chairman Séamus McManus also commended everyone who helped out with our underage structure during the year. The following juvenile committee was returned for 2016: Chairman: Damien Morgan; Secretary: Aideen Swift; Vice-Chairman: Martin Sheridan; Assistant Secretary: Una Forde.

Tráth na gCeist: We hosted a very successful Tráth na gCeist in our clubhouse on Friday, November 11. This was a very enjoyable bilingual quiz, with Joe Ó Gallchóir doing a great job as quizmaster, and was a credit to the organisers Gerard Clerkin, Séamus McManus, John Hahessy, Eimear Galligan and Joe. See more details next week. Thanks to everyone involved, the many who attended and all of the following sponsors for their support: Missy A’s Coffee Shop, Park St; Gerard Clerkin Transport; Kieran McMahon Tyres; Macartan Duffy Commercials; Jim McConnon, Old Cross Square; Paddy McMahon Repairs; Leonard Engineering; Sam’s Bridge – Vincent Quinn; Cosy Bar, Glaslough Street (Re-opening soon!); John Hahessy & Family; Diesel Clothing – Mel McMorrow; Jimmy Croarkin; Wineways Off-Licence; Gerry Mullin Car & Van Rentals, North Road; DBA Accountants, North Road; Dolan’s Pharmacy – Gerry Lynch.

Scór: Well done to our young members who took part in Scór na nÓg last Saturday, November 19. The only Harps group to progress was the dancing group; we wish them all the best in the county final.

History social night: As part of compiling a club history, we will be hosting another reminiscence evening in the coming weeks: keep an eye on club notes for more details.

Dates to remember: Our juvenile presentation night has been set for Friday , December 2. We will also be participating and hosting at Féile Peil na nÓg 2017 next June. Keep an eye on club notes for more details on these events.

Hurling:

Juveniles: Training and games for all juvenile age groups continues every Sunday at 12pm in Rooskey. Anyone interested in bringing along their child or helping out with the coaching, please contact the Monaghan Harps Hurling Facebook page.

Minors: Sunday’s trip to Lisbellaw for the Ulster League semi-final was made very worthwhile, as an excellent Harps team performance saw us over the line in convincing fashion. We very much controlled the game from the off and after keeping the hosts scoreless for the opening 22 minutes, we went in 2-8 to 0-4 up at half-time. To add to our mean defence, we had eight scorers throughout the match and added five more goals (including a Kieran McQuaid hat-trick) to our tally in the second half to run out 7-12 to 1-9 winners. We now take on Naomh Moninne of Dundalk in the final this Sunday, November 27, in Cloghan at 11am. Good luck to the squad and management. All support is hugely appreciated.

Squad: Cillian Sherry; Anthony Greenan, Dylan McAree, Conor Duffy; Emmet Walshe, Cathal Power, Tommy Croarkin; Niall McManus (1-1), Aidan Burns; Nathan O’Donoghue (0-2), Remy McKenna (1-1), Lochlainn Power (0-1); Conor McCrystal (1-1), Kieran McQuaid (3-2), Mark Murphy (1-2); Sean Conway, John Lowry, Luke Mulligan, Conor Devlin.

AGM: Our AGM will take place on Saturday, December 10 at 7pm in the clubhouse.
