McElvaney Waste & Recycling Intermediate Football Championship Semi-Final

Donaghmoyne 1-11 Inniskeen 0-9                                                               8/10/16

 

Donaghmoyne qualified for the IFC Final for the second time in three years by seeing off neighbours Inniskeen. Substitute Niall Garland got a late goal to rubber-stamp Donaghmoyne’s progression to the final at the end of a dominant second-half performance. Inniskeen held the edge in the first half, with four Meegans on the scoresheet, but Donaghmoyne were on top thereafter. Paddy Martin’s young charges kicked a total of 13 wides, but with top scorers David Garland and Ronan McDonald landing four points from frees each, they did enough.

Rockcorry 1-10 Tyholland 0-10                                                                   8/10/16

Rockcorry are in their first IFC Final after a strong second-half performance against Tyholland in Scotstown. A brace of points from Fergal McGeough got Rockcorry off to a good start against Tyholland, but they ended the first half trailing by double-scores (0-6 to 0-3) and they fell five points down within five minutes of the restart. Tyholland looked poised to qualify for a fourth final since 2010, but they scored just two more points, while Rock added 1-7 to their tally. Noel Carroll struck for the all-important goal ten minutes from time, while Paul McKeown and McGeough added late points to secure Rock’s progression.
