Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 10, 15, 22 and 27. Jackpot of €7,100 not won. Residual prizes: €100 The Crazy Gang c/o Jim Dalton (Hurling Club); €40 Sarah O’Neill c/o Brian O’Sullivan (Hurling Club); €40 Patrick Grimley c/o Dermot Coyle; €40 Mary Bramley c/o Marie Farrell. Jackpot for Sunday, October 2 is €7,200 and Rose Hughes and Noel Hennessy are on duty. Lotto draw takes place in our clubhouse every Sunday night. All welcome. Thanks to everyone who supports our Lotto.

Seniors: We won away to Truagh in the County Monaghan Credit Unions Senior Football League last Sunday. 1-1 by Shane Smyth and points from Nicholas Treanor, Dónal Hahessy and Fearghal McMahon had us ahead for much of the first half, but having played with the wind at our backs on a difficult day for football, we changed ends on level terms at 1-5 apiece. Points by Neil McAdam and Fearghal kept us in touch as the scores remained tight in the second half, before Kevin Loughran struck for our crucial second goal. Neil added a point and our 2-8 to 1-8 win was enough to leave us third in the table ahead of our next game at home to Ballybay on Sunday week, October 9.

Team and scorers: Ashley White; Gareth Treanor, Aodhán Óg McAnespie, Niall Hahessy; Dean Fanning, Conor Galligan (Capt.), Kevin Loughran (1-0); Stephen Driver, Gary White; Nicholas Treanor (0-2, 1f), Shane Smyth (1-1), Michael Galligan; Dónal Hahessy (0-1), Neil McAdam (0-2, 1 ’45), Fearghal McMahon (0-2, 1f).

Sub: Éimhín Morahan for N Treanor (black card, 30 mins).

Fun Day: Our Family Fun Day takes place at Gavan Duffy Park this Saturday, October 1 from 10am. This will include our Mick Farrell Memorial U-10 Tournament, fun and games for all ages and the return of the popular ‘Great Harps Balloon Race’, followed by the screening of the All-Ireland football final replay. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy a great day. All club members are urged to make sure they get their balloon cards from Jimmy Croarkin (087 1249635) and to please return them on Saturday. The prizes are iPads for the owner of the balloon found furthest away and the seller of the most balloons, while juveniles with a full card will receive a new Harps O’Neills training top.

U-10: The inaugural Mick Farrell Memorial Tournament at Gavan Duffy Park will take place during our Fun Day this Saturday, October 1 from 10am. We are set to be joined by U-10 football teams from counties Monaghan, Cavan, Tyrone and Antrim. All support would be appreciated on the morning.

All-Ireland final: Everyone is welcome to join us in the clubhouse once again on Saturday for the All-Ireland final replay.

Know Your Sport: Cork’s ladies football All-Ireland final win means there are now 12 joint-leaders in our sports prediction competition. Paul Fay, Ciarán Toner, Hugh Moyna, Jim Fanning, Anne McManus, Jonathan Browne, Owen Connell, Niall Hahessy, Fintan Grimes, Séamus McManus and Deirdre Malone have all joined Adrian Gunn on 10 points.

Gavan Duffy Park: The refurbished Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Contact Jimmy Croarkin on 087 1249635 or Pádraig Callan on 087 4515206 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.

AGM date: The club’s Annual General Meeting has been set for Thursday, November 24.

Hurling:

Juveniles: Training and games for all juvenile age groups continues every Sunday at 12pm in Rooskey. Anyone interested in bringing along their child or helping out with the coaching, please contact the Monaghan Harps Hurling Facebook page.

U-16: Our U-16s are currently fixed to play Castleblayney in their championship semi-final on Saturday week, October 8.

Minors: Unfortunately Castleblayney withdrew from the minor championship last weekend which meant our match was conceded. This means a repeat final pairing of the past two years between ourselves and Carrickmacross. Originally fixed for Saturday, October 8, the fixture was recently switched to this Saturday, October 1, in Clontibret at 2.30pm. Please come out and support the lads as they attempt to achieve a back-to-back double. As a result of this fixture change our Ulster quarter-final against Cootehill has been moved and will now most likely be played on Sunday, October 9.
