CONNOLLY MEATS MINOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION 2 FINAL.Minor Div 2 Final

Carrickmacross 2-7, Donaghmoyne 0-13.

Carrickmacross and Donaghmoyne have to meet again to decide who takes the minor football league division 2 cup after they finish all square at the end of a contest that built to a nerve tingling finish in Blackhill on Tuesday evening last. Overall a draw was probably a fair enough result but Donaghmoyne will have cause to look back on how they failed to push home their advantage when they led by 5 points entering the final quarter and could only register one further point as opposed to conceding 1-3, as Carrickmacross, despite being down to 14 men, put in a late rally. The greasy conditions made life difficult for both sides and mistakes proliferated, turnovers being the order of the day and both sides coughing up possession repeatedly, but against that both showed great endeavour and always tried to be positive and constructive in their approach. Carrickmacross led at half-time by 1-4 to 0-6 with Donaghmoyne then putting in a strong start to the 2nd half to register 6 unanswered points to leave them 5 ahead going into the final quarter and Carrickmacross then fighting back with Caolan Martin hitting the equaliser 4 minutes into stoppage time.
