Doohamlet Notes

June 1st, 2016

Seniors: Doohamlet made the short journey to our neighbours Ballybay on Saturday evening last and after a very gutsy display were very unfortunate not to at least earn a share of the points. With this being a star game both sides fielded without their county players but this was a very entertaining game and the result was in doubt right up to the final whistle. A goal midway through the second half proved to be the vital score for the home side. With only a point separating the sides and only minutes left Doohamlet searched for the levelling score and spurned a number of chances before Ballybay broke forward and made sure of the win with a breakaway goal. Final Score Ballybay 2-07 Doohamlet 0-09

Next Senior fixture v Latton at home.

Juvenile: Gerrys Prepared Veg U16 Division 3: U16s were defeated by Eire Og on Thursday and play Rockorry away on Thursday 30th June @7.30pm.

Gerrys Prepared Veg U14 Division 4: U14s defeated a very good Seans team and had the match conceded by Killeevan inChampionship. Next game away to Rockorry this Sat 4th June @12pm.

Gerrys Prepared Veg U12 Division 4: U12s were narrowly beaten by Toome last Monday evening and had a good win away to Killeevan on Sat. Next game at home v Rockorry on Sat 11th June @12pm.

Congrats: Huge congrats to Barry McGinn who was selected on the Eirgrid U21 All Star Panel. Well done Barry.

Best Wishes to Colin and Barry and the entire Monaghan senior team who begin their defence of the Ulster Championship this weekend.

Membership: Final reminder that membership is now overdue and will be collected during the coming week. Please renew your membership €50 with any committee member.

Sympathy: Doohamlet GFC conveys its condolences to the family and friends of the late Liam Keenan. A former Doohamlet great, Liam was one of the stars of our 1974 Championship winning team. Liam was synonymous with Doohamlet GFC with the club playing its early football on the stoney meadow. Such was the popularity of Liam it was very poignant to see a guard of honour from both the 1974 team members and the current team flank Liams remains as he made his final journey.
