Seniors: Our senior footballers fell to a disappointing defeat against Magheracloone in the championship first round at Aughnamullen last Saturday. Points by Gary White, Dean Fanning, Liam Hahessy and Éimhín Morahan had us on level terms towards the end of the first half, but a damaging slump either side of the interval saw Magheracloone put the game out of our reach. David Hughes, Nicholas Scott, Dean, Liam and Paddy Connolly got on the scoresheet in the final quarter, but a 1-19 to 0-11 loss means we will be in the qualifiers when the championship resumes.

Team and scorers: Ashley White; Niall Hahessy, David Hughes (0-1), Aodhán Óg McAnespie; Conor Galligan (Capt.), Nicholas Scott (0-1), Kevin Loughran; Stephen Driver, Éimhín Morahan (0-1); Nicholas Treanor, Gary White (0-1), Michael Galligan; Liam Hahessy (0-2f), Shane Smyth, Dean Fanning (0-3, 1f).

Next up is an away game against Castleblayney on Sunday week (May 29).

Reserves: We fell to a narrow defeat at home to Killeevan in the RFL Division Three last Wednesday. A nightmare first half ended with us trailing by 2-4 to 0-1, but we were much improved in the second half and by the time Dylan McKenna scored our only goal, we had drawn level, only for Killeevan to respond with a late winner to make the final score 3-7 to 1-10 in their favour.

Team: Cónall McKenna; Turlough Clerkin, Conor Flynn, Ciarán McQuaid; Kyle O’Leary, John Mulligan, Conor Forde; Robbie Moyna (Capt.), Dylan McKenna; Ruairí Forde, Colm Shalvey, Ben Kearns-Flynn; Dessie McGarry, Conor Duffy, Reece Treanor.

Sub: Conor O’Neill for McQuaid.

Next up is the O’Duffy Cup quarter-final at home to Ballybay, which is now set for this Friday at 7pm. We then host Clontibret in the RFL Division 1A next Wednesday at 8pm.

Minors: Our minor footballers got back to winning ways in a good contest at home to Aughnamullen last Tuesday. Goals by Ethan Murphy and Jack Deery got our lads off to a flying start, while Shane McMahon and James Bourke added points. A great goal by Jack and further points from Shane and James gave our lads a 3-5 to 0-6 lead at half-time. Remy McKenna added a fourth goal early in the second half, but Aughnamullen came back strongly and it took points from Jack, Shane and Remy to secure a hard-earned 4-8 to 1-13 win for the Harps.

Team and scorers: Dylan McAree; Zach Mallen, Aidan Burns, Anthony Greenan; Niall Ward, Jamie Shields, Niall McManus (Capt.); Shane McMahon (0-4, 3f), Ben Kearns-Flynn; Nathan O’Donoghue, Jack Deery (2-1, 0-1f), Thomas Croarkin; Ethan Murphy (1-0), James Bourke (0-2), Remy McKenna (1-1).

Sub used: Oisín Fagan.

U-16: Our Under-16 footballers had another high-scoring win at home to Magheracloone last Thursday. A string of scores by the likes of Conor McCrystal, Oisín Fagan and Lochlainn Power helped our lads build up a healthy half-time lead and although Magheracloone rallied strongly in the second half, a late goal by Conor secured the win for the Harps on a scoreline of 8-8 to 4-13.

Team: Dylan Ballantine; David Leane, Seán Conway, Andrew Lyden; Conor Devlin, Dylan Maguire, Stephen Ward; Anann Connor, Adam O’Neill; Oisín Fagan, Brendan Óg Ó Dufaigh, Killian Conlon; Conor McCrystal, Lochlainn Power, Mujtaba Gamal.

Subs used: Conor McCarron, Luke Coyle, John Domingo.

U-12: The Under-12 Football Leagues got underway with a double-header at home to Scotstown in perfect conditions last Saturday. Our Division One team made an impressive start to their league campaign by playing some excellent football, with Fionán Ó Gallchóir and Luke McManus in fine scoring form in the first half. Fionán and Luke were joined by Jake McConnon, Eoin O’Hanlon, Scarlett Herron, Shea Swift, Josh Kelly and Seán Callan as our lads claimed a comprehensive win.

Subs used: Dáire Conlon, Mark Clerkin, Jack Lynch.

Our Division Five team fell just short with a strong comeback in the second game. Scotstown had much the better of the first half, when our only score came from Oisín Treanor, and although John McCrystal, Ethan Ballantine and Senan Cudden kicked points after the restart, Ethan Ballantine (0-2), Scotstown kept finding the net to stay ahead. Scores by John, Senan, Shea Swift and Fionán Ó Gallchóir closed the gap to five points, but our lads lost out on a 7-3 to 4-7 scoreline. Jack Lynch, Oisín Reilly, Morgan Coyle, Liam McCabe also got on the scoresheet in the third period of what was an entertaining game.

Team and scorers: Gary Devlin; Gregory O’Connell, Dáire Conlon; Jack Lynch, Max Mallen; Ethan Ballantine (0-2), Senan Cudden (1-1); Morgan Coyle, Liam McCabe; Jordan Crampton, Oisín Reilly.

Subs used: Oisín Treanor (0-1), John McCrystal (1-2), Shea Swift (1-0), Aidan McGeough, Eoin McCleary, Jack Corrigan, Patrick Dooley-Duffy, Fionán Ó Gallchóir (1-1).

Both teams have away games next Wednesday: Division One in Killanny at 7.30, Division Five in Truagh at 8pm.

U-14s: Our U-14s had a fantastic 3-9 to 2-11 win over Cootehill on Monday evening. There were also notable performances from Seán Callan, Liam Conway, Kasper Ostrowski, Tristan Moyna, Darragh Murray and Fintan Keogh. Well done to the whole squad and Jim on an excellent team performance. The U-14s are due to play at home on Monday.
