Corduff Notes

Club Results:

On Saturday our Junior A team began their league campaign at home against Scotstown. After a fantastic game of football Scotstown came out on top by a single point. Final Score Scotstown 1-10 Corduff 1-9.

 

On Sunday our Intermediate team hosted near neighbours Aughnamullen in the opening game of the league. A highly entertaining game in front of a huge attendance ended in a draw on a scoreline of 1-13 apiece. 

 

Monaghan GAA:

Best of luck to Padraic Keenan and the Monaghan Senior team who host Kerry this Sunday in Clones.

 

Membership:

Club Membership is now due and is payable to any Committee member. Standard membership will be €50. 

Premium Membership will be €100 which will entitle a member to free admission to all home matches in the Intermediate, Junior and Minor Leagues in 2016 while Family Membership is available at €150 and will entitle you and your family to free admission to all home matches in the Intermediate, Junior and Minor Leagues.

In addition, all members will be given free entry to any Club Draws for Tickets run during the course of the year.

 

Patrician High School:

Best wishes to the Patrician High School Under 16 ½ team in the Masita GAA All-Ireland “A” Post-Primary Schools Paul McGirr Cup final in Pearse Park, Longford on Saturday. Corduff’s representatives on the panel are Sean Burns, Dylan Finnegan and Fionn O’Callaghan, with Martin Mills managing the team.

Congratulations to the Under 18 ½ team on their success in the McLarnon Cup final last Thursday. They represent Ulster now in the All-Ireland Series. The semi-final took place yesterday (Wednesday) in Carrick-on-Shannon. See elsewhere for result.

 

The Friends of Carrickmacross Cancer Society Football Match

A football match featuring the former players from the following clubs Corduff, Carrickmacross, Magheracloone, Killanny, Inniskeen, and Donaghmoyne will take place in Corduff on Saturday 16th April. Players from each club will take part. Please give your support.

JUVENILES:

Under 12:

Corduff U12s had their first outing in the Spring League on Saturday and got off to a great start with a 4 point win away to Ballybay Pearse Brothers. The final score in Ballybay was:

Ballybay Pearse Brothers (0-9) v (0-13) Corduff

Next up for the U12s is a home fixture against Oram on Saturday April 2nd. Throw-in at Corduff is 2pm.

 

Under 14:

The U14 season starts this Saturday, March 26th, with a league fixture away to Sean McDermotts. Throw in at Páirc Sheáin Mhic Dhiarmada is 2pm.

 

 

LADIES:

Gaelic4Girls:

Reminder: Corduff Ladies Gaelic Football club is delighted to announce details of an exciting new programme called Gaelic4Girls that is commencing on the 16th of April 2016. Gaelic4Girls is initially an 8week programme aimed at increasing participation in Ladies Gaelic Football.

The programme targets girls aged between 8-12years and focuses on fun and participation, allowing girls to get an introduction to Ladies Gaelic Football in a non-competitive environment. It will be held on Corduff pitch every Saturday from 10am-11:30am commencing on the 16th of April.
This is the first Gaelic4Girls programme to be held in the area and all girls from the Corduff and surrounding areas are encouraged to attend and learn the basic skills of Ladies Gaelic Football. This is a great way to make new friends. The cost of the entire programme is only €8. For more information contact Programme Co-ordinator Laura McEnaney on 087 2652352.

 

Membership:

Membership is now due and can be paid at training on Saturday morning or to any committee member. Fees are as follows, U18 is €35 and over 18 is €50. Training fee also now due at €20 per player or €30 per family.

 

County News:

The county minor championship season got off to a dream start with a massive win over Fermanagh on a score line of 8-25 to 1-4. Well done to Sarah McEnaney who made her county debut at corner back and to Fiona Patton who is part of the County Minor Management team.

 

HANDBALL:

Handball League:

The Semi-Finals of the Corduff Handball League were played last weekend, with “The Journey Men” advancing to the final after beating the “One Hit Wonders” with a match to spare, while it was a much closer contest between “The Villans” and the “5 Cross Cruisers”, with the former scraping through on an aggregate score of 161 to 154.

The final will be played this weekend, with the last games played on Saturday evening, followed afterwards by a presentation to the finalists in The Mountain Dew. All support is welcome.
