HARPS HANDBALL
Merry Christmas to the young boys and girls who represent the club in handball. Many thanks to their coaches and especially their parents for their interest, encouragement and help in bringing the players to various venues throughout the county and beyond.  Eight county singles titles from a possible twelve is a tremendous achievement. To represent your county in the forthcoming Ulster Championships is indeed a great honour.  Early in January players will be paired together for the county juvenile doubles. We intend entering several pairings.

The Ulster Council will have a presentation on Thursday 21st of Januaryin Kelly’s Inn in Tyrone for the Ulster medal winners from the World Championships.  The Harps medal winners are Seán Callan, Louise Mc Ginnity, Eoghan Mc Ginnity and Conor Mc Donnell.  It should be a great night with World champions Paul Brady and Aisling Reilly hopefully in attendance.
At present there is a club league using the Challenger 1 ball.  There have been some excellent performances from Ryan Mc Geough, James Cunningham, Oisín Reilly and Marc Corrigan.
The most-improved player using the Challenger 2 ball is Fergal Magee.  For the girls it is Juste Audietyte.
Congratulations to both.
The club intends having a competition for those players who use the Dark Blue handball.  More details later.
Our team in the GAA league is finding the going tough but Cathal Mc Nally, Kevin Connolly, Mark Treanor and Padraig Mc Geough are benefitting from the experience of playing players from the other clubs.
Tiarnán O’Rourke and Conor Mc Donnell have been progressing in the Tyrone handball league and hope to make the playoffs shortly.

MELLANS HANDBALL

Juvenile County Championships. We finally got a conclusion to the Juvenile Single championships last week as Shane Mc Kenna took on Cillian Sheery of Tydavnet in the U17 singles final, both players were pretty well matched apart from one trying to play all to the left while the other trying to capitalise down the right, in the first game it was tit for tat until Cillian pulled into a 19-12 and looked pretty much on key to take the first game, but Shane re-focused and never lost another point and took the 1st game 21-19, the 2nd game Shane took an early lead and looked to be in full control as he lead 11-0, then 15-2 but then Cillian started a fight back and a tie-breaker looked to be on the cards as he clawed back to 15-12 but then Shane shut up shop and took the game and the title 21-12, well done to both players who showed some good shots and with a bit more fine tuning they will be players to be reckoned with in the future, congratulations Shane..

GAA League. The GAA team are away this week the 23rd to Carrick, good luck.

Juvenile Coaching. There will be a break from coaching now for a few weeks until Christmas is over, all breaks will be as per your coach but most will be back in action week beginning Monday the 4th 2016, but remember those in Ulster in the new year try to keep a bit of play on-going.

Festive Break. The club would like wish all far and near and very happy Christmas and peaceful New Year, lets hope to see all and more back in the new year playing and enjoying the sport and we hope to soon have the comfort of our seating area back in operation, so onwards and upwards in 2016.
