Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 1, 10, 23 and 27. Jackpot of €4,200 not won. Jackpot for Sunday, February 1 is €4,300 and Mary and Fergus Coyle are on duty. Tickets can be left into the clubhouse from 7.45pm each Sunday. All support for our Lotto is greatly appreciated.

 

Charity match: The presentation of the proceeds from our recent charity match will take place in the clubhouse this Sunday, February 1, at 9pm. All money raised goes to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust, the organisation assisting the family of James Finnegan, who died tragically in Korea last month. We would like to thank all players who took part and all business people who supported the charity match and to invite everyone to attend the presentation on Sunday.

 

Membership: Membership fees for 2015 are being maintained as follows: €20 per adult, €10 per child or €50 for a family of two adults and any number of children. Money can be paid to registrar Dermot Coyle, who will be available to collect subscriptions in the clubhouse this Sunday from 9pm.

 

Draw: Thanks to everyone who has supported the GAA National Club Draw. Please return any unreturned tickets to Jimmy Croarkin as soon as possible.

 

Awards: The Monaghan GAA Annual Awards night, sponsored by The Northern Standard, took place in the Hillgrove Hotel last Saturday night. Our own Michael O’Donoghue and Conor McDonnell accepted the Juvenile Official and joint Handballer of the Year awards, while Owen and Gráinne Connell represented Ladies Footballer of the Year Yvonne, who is in Australia.

 

Upcoming events: We are delighted to again host Monaghan Arch Club at Gavan Duffy Park next Thursday, February 5, from 8 to 10pm. All club support is needed for this night. We are also preparing to host the second Darkness into Light Monaghan 5km walk/run on the morning of Saturday, May 9.

 

Juvenile Presentation: The presentation of medals to our successful juvenile teams from 2014 has had to be rescheduled from its planned date of February 13. A new date will be announced soon, so keep an eye on club notes, website, etc.

 

Coaching: Monaghan Coaching & Games Development are running a series of Coach Education programmes and there are also a number of coaching workshops coming up in Cloghan in the next few months. See the Monaghan GAA website for more details.

 

County teams: Good luck to Neil McAdam and the county senior footballers in Saturday evening’s NFL opener against Tyrone in Omagh. Hard luck to Kevin Loughran, Evan Doherty and Fearghal McMahon and the Monaghan U-21s, who exited the Hastings Cup last weekend.

 

Colleges: Good luck to Éimhín Morahan, John Mulligan, Darragh Hannon, James McKenna, Shane McMahon and the St. Macartan’s College MacRory Cup panel in their MacRory Cup knock-out game against St. Pat’s, Maghera in Donaghmore on Saturday and also to Mustafa Gamal, who is part of the DCU freshers team for their championship game against Cork IT this Thursday.

 

U-12: We are running a Total Indoor Gaelic Football programme for Under-12s in the Barry McGuigan Sports Hall, Coláiste Oiriall. This takes place on Thursday at 5pm for children born in 2003 and on Friday at 5pm for those born in 2004 and 2005 (cost €2 per session). All current and new players are welcome to attend. There is also indoor football currently running for U-10s.

 

Scór: Scór Sinsir is due to take place on Saturday, February 21.

 

Garda vetting: Club members who have received their Garda vetting clearance forms are asked to send a photocopy of same to Thomas McCabe. Anyone yet to fill out a form can contact Thomas on 087 7635891.
