Twenty two units of the Camogie Association are to benefit from €100,000 worth of funding under the organisation’s Capital Funding Scheme.

Cork Camogie Board have received the highest grant with €14,350 for the development of county Camogie grounds followed closely by Galway Camogie Board on €10,850. Eighteen clubs nationwide have received funding with last year’s All Ireland Club finalists Inniscarra of Cork securing €6,600 to finalise development work at their grounds. The remaining clubs have received grants varying from €5,000 to €1,500.

Speaking about the announcement President of the Camogie Association Joan O’Flynn:

“Assisting county board and club units to build and improve facilities to provide the best possible platform for the development and promotion of camogie is of paramount concern to the Association.

Despite the challenging economic circumstances, it is of significant importance that funding is made available to invest in our county and club units.

The applications to the Capital Funding Scheme were extremely competitive and of an impressive standard. It also provided an excellent snap shot of the huge commitment of volunteers at county and club level to promoting and developing camogie in their respective areas and the level of foresight and planning which goes into this.”

This once off Capital Funding Scheme was announced by President Joan O’Flynn at Congress 2011.  Applications were invited from units at all levels of the Association.
