Traditional Sports Wknd 12th – 14th August 2011:

Promising to be an entertaining weekend for all the family, this is one not to be missed.

There will be something for everyone including underage blitz, kiddies disco, drag hunt, bbq with music by the Mad Arabs, traditional sports day including novelty races, obstacle course, skittles, hoops, hook a duck, sheaf throwing, horseshoes, tug of war and what may prove to be the highlight of the weekend “Aghabog’s Strongest Man” competition.

We are asking anyone who is interested in helping out in any way to come to an open meeting on Thursday next (28th July) at 9.30pm in the club

Yearbook: Monaghan County Board will be producing their own GAA Yearbook this year which local clubs will have a direct input into producing. It would be a great help if anybody who has any photos of events (past or present), ideas on topics to cover, etc could forward them on to pauric.mcphillips@gmail.com or just ring 086 1659589 if you think you might have some useful pointers.  It would be particularly useful if any really unusual or embarrassing photos could be found, they probably won’t be used, but I could do with the laugh.

Under 10 Tournament: As part of Rockcorry’s Haymaking Weekend Rock are hoping to run a small 4- team Under 10 tournament (Aghabog,Killeevan,Latton and

Rockcorry) in Dartrey Field on Sunday 24th July. The tournament will be

run along the lines of the Under 10 Blitzes run by the county board

with the same or similar rules applying. It is hoped to start at 1.30pm

sharp so participating teams should plan to arrive by 1.00pm.We would

aim to run the 2 semi-finals and final off over a period of

one-and-a-half to 2 hours.

Juveniles:

It was a very busy weekend for our juvenile players last weekend.

On Friday evening our Under 13 team played Aughnamullan & Cremartin in Cloghan in a blitz competition.

Our Under 8 team was in Cloghan on Saturday for their blitz while our under 12 team travelled to Carrickmacross for a league game.

A feature of these games was the number of parents/family  who travelled to support teams – well done to all involved.

Pitch Perfect: Aside from the hilarious name, this is a chance for the Aghabog club to shine on the national stage. Essentially TG4 are selecting singers from local Gaa clubs all over Ireland. Those lucky enough to be selected will then form part of a choir, which, wait for it…will perform on All-Ireland final day in front of 80,000 in Croke Park. Picture X-Factor with Marty Morrissey. Apply online at www.tg4.ie or call 097238722
