Lotto AGM: The Lotto committee’s AGM takes place this Sunday, February 6, in the clubhouse at 8.30pm. All committee members are asked to attend.

 

Monthly meetings: The February juvenile meeting takes place on Thursday in the clubhouse at 7.30pm. The senior club meeting takes place next Thursday, February 10.

 

Membership: Membership fees for 2011, which are being maintained at €20, can now be paid to registrar Maurice Galligan c/o Cosy Bar or to Liadhan Treanor in the clubhouse. Please note that all players must be paid-up members of the club. We would like to request that club members pay their fees as early as possible, as members must be registered by March 31 in accordance with Croke Park guidelines.

Juvenile presentation: This year’s juvenile presentation, which had been set for February 25, has had to be postponed until a later date, which will be decided at tonight’s juvenile meeting. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

 

Well done: Congratulations to David Hughes, who captained DIT to a comprehensive win over UCC in the Ryan Cup final last week.

Good luck: To St. Macartan’s College in this Saturday’s MacRory Cup quarter-final against St. Michael’s, Enniskillen in Ballygawley. Best of luck in particular to Harps players Liam Hahessy, Dylan McMahon and Niall Greenan. Good luck also to the county senior footballers in their opening National League game against Galway in Inniskeen on Sunday.

Farney GAA For All: Monaghan GAA are holding a Farney GAA for All event in St. Macartan’s College on Saturday, February 26, from 11am to 1pm. The aim is to provide a variety of suitable sports and activities for children/youths *(5-18 years)* with a disability. As well as enjoying the physical benefits of sport, participants will also have the benefit of peer interaction. Light refreshments will accompany the presentation of certificates by Monaghan county players.

Bowling Classic: A Bowling Classic will be held this weekend (February 4-6) at the GR8 venue in Castleblayney, with proceeds going towards the county team’s players’ fund. It costs €200 to enter a team of four players, with a prize on offer of All-Ireland final tickets plus an overnight stay in Dublin.

Handball: The Challenger 1 competition was won by Justas who defeated Jakub in a great final. The beaten semifinalists were Lorcan and Conor. Get well soon to Ramunas who sustained a hand injury during his playoff against Eugene McGeough from Bawn. This was to decide on Monaghan’s player in Ulster. Better luck next year Ramunas.
Defeat also for our Under-12 pairing of Ryan Mooney and Conor McCrystal in another playoff.
